Step 1: Select Your Model
Step 2: Model / Registration Year
The estimate assumes first registration on 1 January of the selected year.
Step 3: Current Odometer (km)
Chery's new-vehicle warranty is unlimited-km, so your odometer won't void it. Kilometres only matter for the 1-year / 20,000km accessories cover — and for comparing against MG's 250,000km cap.
Chery Warranty vs MG, Kia, Toyota, GWM & Hyundai
| Brand | New-vehicle warranty | Conditional? | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chery(this car) | 7 years / unlimited km | ✅ Unconditional | Unconditional — no dealer-servicing requirement. Any licensed mechanic following the logbook keeps the full 7-year cover intact, with no odometer cap. |
| MG | 10 years / 250,000 km | ⚠️ Conditional | Conditional (changed July 2025) — the full 10 years only applies if every scheduled service is done at an authorised MG dealer. Miss one dealer service and you drop back to the base warranty. Capped at 250,000km. |
| GWM / Haval | 7 years / unlimited km | ✅ Unconditional | Unconditional and unlimited-km, like Chery. |
| Kia | 7 years / unlimited km | ✅ Unconditional | Unconditional and unlimited-km. Kia pioneered the 7-year warranty in Australia. |
| Toyota | 5 years / unlimited km | ⚠️ Conditional | Base cover is 5 years; it extends up to 10 years only if you keep completing capped-price servicing at Toyota dealers. |
| Hyundai | 5 years / unlimited km | ✅ Unconditional | Unconditional but shorter than Chery, Kia and GWM by two years. |
Chery vs MG Warranty: Why "Unconditional" Beats "10 Years"
In July 2025 MG changed its Australian warranty terms, and it has left a lot of buyers confused. Here's the difference that actually matters:
Chery — unconditional
- ✓7-year / unlimited-km new-vehicle warranty that is unconditional — you are NOT required to service at a Chery dealer.
- ✓Any licensed mechanic servicing to the logbook keeps the full 7 years of cover intact.
- ✓No odometer cap — unlimited km for the whole term.
- ✓Omoda E5 adds an 8-year / unlimited-km high-voltage battery warranty.
MG — conditional (post July 2025)
- !Headline 10-year / 250,000km cover looks longer than Chery's 7 years.
- !It is conditional: to hold the full 10 years you must complete every scheduled service at an authorised MG dealer (terms changed July 2025).
- !Miss a dealer service and you fall back to the shorter base warranty.
- !Capped at 250,000km, and dealer servicing typically costs more than an independent logbook service.
On paper MG's 10-year term is longer, but it is conditional and tied to pricier dealer servicing. Chery's 7-year cover is shorter in headline years yet unconditional and kilometre-unlimited — you keep full cover even if you service at any licensed mechanic. For high-km drivers or owners who prefer independent servicing, Chery's warranty is effectively the more robust one.
❓ Chery Warranty — Frequently Asked Questions
How long is Chery warranty?
Chery Australia's new-vehicle warranty is 7 years with unlimited kilometres and is unconditional — there is no requirement to service at a Chery dealer to keep it valid. The Omoda E5 electric SUV adds an 8-year / unlimited-km high-voltage battery warranty, plus 7-year anti-perforation (rust-through) cover and 3-year paint cover.
Is Chery warranty better than MG?
It depends how you service. MG offers a longer headline 10-year / 250,000km warranty, but since July 2025 it is conditional: you must complete every scheduled service at an authorised MG dealer or you drop back to the base warranty, and it is capped at 250,000km. Chery's 7-year / unlimited-km warranty is unconditional — any licensed mechanic following the logbook keeps full cover intact. For high-km drivers or owners who service independently, Chery's unconditional cover is effectively more robust.
What does Chery warranty cover?
The 7-year new-vehicle warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship across the engine, transmission, driveline, electrical, steering and suspension. It also includes 7-year anti-perforation (rust-through) cover, 3-year paint cover, 1-year / 20,000km genuine-accessories cover and up to 7 years of roadside assistance (12 months per activation). It does not cover wear-and-tear items such as brake pads, tyres, wipers and the 12V battery, or damage from misuse, accidents or unauthorised modifications.
Does Chery warranty require dealer servicing?
No. Chery Australia's new-vehicle warranty is unconditional, which means you do not have to service at a Chery dealership to remain covered. As long as the vehicle is serviced on time to the manufacturer's logbook by a licensed mechanic (using appropriate parts and fluids), the full 7-year warranty stays intact. This is the key difference from MG, whose 10-year cover requires authorised dealer servicing.
